Pool Themed Ruffle Cake

The customer really liked the ruffle cake I did previously but also had a swimming pool theme in mind.  I decided to combine the two ideas and this was the result.
This cake is completely edible except for the wooden dowel used for the umbrella pole.  I had all the pool accesssories made ahead of time but thought it needed a little something extra once it was put together.  The grass umbrella was this cake's last minute add on... finally complete!
I have edible markers but wasn't crazy about that look for this life preserver.  I ended up cutting these letters free hand from fondant...I'm surprised by the level of patience I have every so often, it's a pretty small life preserver!

Psychedelic Cupcakes

I decided to experiment with a bit of leftover icing from the welcome home cupcakes.  I just put all the different colours together in the same icing bag and voila....tie-dye fun!
 Each one is different, groovy!

Cheery Welcome Home Cupcakes!

These cute cupcakes were for a special welcome home party!
I was asked to have the cupcakes match the invitation, which contained the four colours used and little white daisies!

The colours are so bright and cheerful!

Classic Winnie!

This red velvet cake was made for a Classic Winnie the Pooh themed baby shower! I loved designing this and was happy with the way it all came together! The quilting technique around the sides seemed fitting for a baby shower!
The cake was completely edible, with all of the figures and details made out of fondant. I spent longer than I planned to making them, but thoroughly enjoyed it!
I also enjoyed doing a little painting on this one, including the stump and the little bees, also made of fondant!
I think the empty tipped over honey pot and lid is one of my favourite details on this one!

Hat Box II

I had a request for the hat box for a 90th birthday, also in purples and white.  I went with a lighter shade of mauve and accented it with darker violets and the light chartreuse orchids.  The construction of the box, specifically placing the lid on, actually went a little smoother than I remember the last time!  The cake was a marble and buttercream with sugar flowers.
The flowers took awhile but I was happy with the way they turned out and love the colour combination.
