March Monsters!!!
This cute little fellow was made for one of the little monsters in my life! My first nephew celebrated his first official birthday this year (he was born on Leap Year)! My sister hosted a monster themed party and requested a cake to go along with it. Her only request was that the cake have horns and the birthday boy's only request was that it be blue. I love it when I am given some ideas but also have free reign to use my imagination! This cake was chocolate with buttercream and some fondant accents to finish it off! Happy Birthday Keaton!!!
Simon's grandma asked that I make a Cookie Monster cake for his 3rd birthday! This cake was done primarily in buttercream with fondant accents. Although I would have loved to have made the little cookies myself, time was a factor and so these were store bought. They still have the right effect I suppose! I was glad to hear that Simon liked his cake...Happy Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday Dad!
1937 Chevrolet
My Dad recently celebrated a big birthday and my Mother requested a replica of a car from the year he was born. It just so happened that my Dad's first car was made the year he was born. This is a replica of the 1937 Chev my Dad first owned. In typical fashion, it's a cute, cartoonish version! This was half chocolate with chocolate buttercream and half white with raspberry filling! At the time I was making the cake, I didn't realize how much fun the front fenders would end up being in photo ops with nutty sisters and cousins! May have to post some pictures of those fun times!!!

Strawberry Shortcake House!
I recently had the privilege of making this cake for a special little lady's first birthday party! Her family very affectionately refers to her as "Bug"...adorable!
This was a marble cake with chocolate buttercream and was covered in fondant to give it a smooth finish. As usual, I spent much longer than planned on the details...
but am happy that I did!!!
Happy Birthday "Bug"!

Simple but Lovely!
This is a technique that I have seen many times and have wanted to try. So, while the children were off at a sleepover at their lovely aunt's home, I had my own time to play! This is amazingly easy and I

Early Spring!
These cupcakes were made for the mother of a very dear, and hilarious, friend!
She asked for something with mauves and purples, maybe flowery, so this is what I went with! They are a vanilla buttermilk cupcake with raspberry filling, topped with buttercream and fondant flowers. I was trying to keep these pretty simple but that just doesn't seem to happen in my world!
My favourite part of these is definitely the flowers with the "pearl" centres! They weren't part of the original plan but ended up being the finishing touch!

WHOOO wants a Cupcake?!!
Thanks to a friend who sent me a picture of this design! It's not my own but I couldn't wait to try it out! The one she sent had used coconut for the front of the owl, but I opted for white buttercream instead. Although I love coconut, I wasn't sure that the group of people I made it for would. This is incredibly easy to make and could be done in any number of colour combinations. It's also a very cute design for a cake...maybe next time!
