Happy Easter, Happy Spring!

A little bit of spring for Easter dinner dessert!  The cake is a maple carrott with a maple icing and pairs well with a large glass of cold milk!
I thought of leaving the cake with a simple border, but just couldn't bring myself to do it!  I decided at the last minute to make a nest and robin's eggs out of fondant...and was glad I did!

Movie anyone?

This cake was surprisingly easy and very fun!!! I'd seen the way to make the popcorn out of white chocolate on the internet and thought I'd try it...was very happy that it actually worked!  This was for a little boy who had his party at the movie theatre.  It was for the same day as the Cinderella cake, so needless to say, it was a tiring weekend, but very worth it!

Finally, something girly!!!

Being the mother of three boys, I don't often get the opportunity to have Barbies in the house, let alone, make a cake with one!  This was very exciting for me, really, you have no idea!  My mother did this for my sisters and I when we were little (hint - ensure candles are well away from Barbie's hair!) and it's one I've been wanting to try!
Of course I couldn't just decorate the dress, that would be to simple!  I decided to make this little fellow to sit at Cinderella's feet.  A grandmother had asked me to make this for her 6 year old granddaughter's birthday.  Both are big fans of Cinderella, but I had no idea until she picked it up that the mice are her favourite part of the story!  I love it when things like that happen!

Teddy bear baby shower cake goes green!

The mother-to-be really liked the mauve and white version of this I did earlier this year and requested it in the green she is using for her nursery.  Once again, had a fun time doing this one!

Baby boys, cupcakes and polka dots...what could be better?!!

I recently had the privilege of organizing a mini baby shower for a friend who is expecting a boy!  As soon as the shower started to take shape, I was set on blue with white polka dots!  I've seen these cupcake papers before and was waiting for an opportunity to use them!  The mother-to-be loves cupcakes, so I saw my chance and ran with it!  Polka dots just seem to make the world a little cheerier!!!
