Mario loves Princess Peach

For this cake, I was asked to make a Valentine's Day cake that didn't necessarily scream Valentines and that children would love. It didn't take long to think of my son's love for Super Mario and this was the end result! I had a lot of fun with the colours and the small details on this one and eventually had to stop myself from overdoing it!

Gumball Machine!

One of my favourite things about making cakes is seeing the reactions they get.  Bringing this into the 5 year old birthday boy's party and hearing the children say they thought it was a real gumball machine made my day!  I'm looking forward to doing this one again some day, as there are a few things I would do differently...but overall, I loved doing this, it was such a happy cake!

If this wasn't a cake, I'd want to snuggle with it...or maybe I would anyway!

This cake was for a baby shower in Toronto.  The request was for a teddy bear with the colours being pastel violet and white.  I had a lot of fun putting this one together and am looking forward to recreating it in different colours for a baby shower in the spring!

I had a "grand" time making this one!

I was asked to make a cake for a 70th birthday party and was told that the birthday girl's passion has always been music.  What better way to symbolize a life devoted to music than with a piano that's made out of cake!!!?  The piano itself was made of white cake covered in fondant and the roses were made out of gum paste.  The base was made up of three 12" layers, one each of chocolate, white and red velvet. The cake took several hours to complete...and I mean several...but the end result was worth it, a very happy birthday girl!!!
