Simple but Lovely!

This is a technique that I have seen many times and have wanted to try.  So, while the children were off at a sleepover at their lovely aunt's home, I had my own time to play!  This is amazingly easy and I
LOVE the way it looks...so pretty!!!  It is a chocolate cake with toasted pecan and coconut filling!  I'm looking forward to another opportunity to make one of these and to really perfect it.  Since making this, I think I've spent far too much time just imagining all the lovely colours it could be done in! Maybe I'll have to find some more play time soon!!!

Early Spring!

These cupcakes were made for the mother of a very dear, and hilarious, friend!
She asked for something with mauves and purples, maybe flowery, so this is what I went with!  They are a vanilla buttermilk cupcake with raspberry filling, topped with buttercream and fondant flowers.  I was trying to keep these pretty simple but that just doesn't seem to happen in my world!
My favourite part of these is definitely the flowers with the "pearl" centres!  They weren't part of the original plan but ended up being the finishing touch!

WHOOO wants a Cupcake?!!

Thanks to a friend who sent me a picture of this design!  It's not my own but I couldn't wait to try it out!  The one she sent had used coconut for the front of the owl, but I opted for white buttercream instead.  Although I love coconut, I wasn't sure that the group of people I made it for would.   This is incredibly easy to make and could be done in any number of colour combinations.  It's also a very cute design for a cake...maybe next time!
